How Long Does It Take to Get an Uncontested Divorce in Virginia If Both Parties Agree?

September 25 2018
By Faye Carroll

To some degree it depends on how quickly you can get the documents we prepare signed and notarized (by you and your spouse) and back to us. However, it is generally quick as long as there are no court backups, and all of the paperwork and information is correctly filed.

We usually advise clients that they should receive their Final Order of Divorce within four (4)  to six (6) weeks of filing all of the necessary documents (Settlement Agreement; Complaint for Divorce; Acceptance of Service and Waiver of Further Notice by the spouse; Affidavits of the client and their witness; and the Final Order of Divorce) with the Court.

On rare occasions there may be some delay, but we pride ourselves on making sure your case is expedited as much as it is within our power to do so.
